President Putin will go as far as Western leaders allow him to go. “There are moments in history,” Canadian Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland said, “when the great struggle between freedom and tyranny comes down to one fight in one place, which is waged for all of humanity.”[1] Those words seem to underline the growing threats posed to the post-WWII international order, to core democratic values and above all to the principle of sovereignty under international law.
