Who we are

Founded in Brussels in 2013, Vocal Europe is a Brussels-based Think-Tank dedicated to advancing understanding of EU foreign and security policy and democracy. Our team of experts conducts research and analysis on a wide range of topics, including EU relations with global actors, the role of the EU in international security, and the promotion of democratic values and practices within the EU and beyond.

Vocal Europe is committed to producing high-quality research that is informed by the latest scholarship and policy developments in our field. We work closely with policymakers, academics, and other stakeholders to ensure that our research has real-world impact and contributes to the ongoing debates on EU foreign and security policy and democracy.

In addition to our research activities, we also offer a range of educational programs and events designed to engage the public and promote a better understanding of these important topics. Through our research and educational activities, we hope to make a positive contribution to the ongoing debates on EU foreign and security policy and democracy, and to help shape a more peaceful and prosperous future for all Europeans.

What we do

As one of the few think tanks in Brussels covering EU External Relations, Enlargement Policy and Democracy, we offer exchanges, provide insights on and potential solutions for EU policy-making through:

• Research publications
• Regular events such as policy debates, seminars, conferences, trainings and workshops

Our independence

Our institutional independence is rooted in the individual independence of our scholars. Vocal Europe does not take positions on issues. As an organisation, Vocal Europe is committed to:

• carry out state-of-the-art policy research, addressing the challenges facing Europe;
• achieve high standards of academic excellence and maintain unqualified independence and impartiality;
• provide a forum for discussion among all stakeholders in the European policy process;
• build collaborative networks of researchers, policymakers and other stakeholders across the whole of Europe

Vocal Europe is a non-profit international association under Belgian law (VZW), governed by its statues (dated 6 July 2018).

Vocal Europe’s Board

Vocal Europe’s Board is composed of independent personalities with broad research and policy experience, representing their individual views only. The board provides the strategic direction of the organization. Click here to view all members of our Board.

Membership

A think tank needs the input of and the exchange with all stakeholders in the society – as well as their support. Vocal Europe offers different kinds of membership and attracts small amounts of grants, e.g. from Central Banks. For more information, visit our membership sections
